Google Prank - April 1, 2010

If you have noticed today April 1st 2010, Google has changed their name to Topeka on their homepage. But wait, there are more. Here are some of the stuff Google experienced and offered today,

1) Google home page name changed to Topeka

2) Upload and store anything in the cloud with Google Docs. You could not only upload and share any documents, files and spreadsheets, you could also store keys, remote control, rail passes, pets, piano and other objects. Not convinced? Check it out here.

3) Gmail having vowel outage. Gmail fail to render vowel including letter 'a', 'e', 'i', 'o' and 'u'. Go to Gmail homepage (make sure you are not logged in) and check it out while their are still under the maintenance working on this outage.

4) Google Voice introduces Standard Voicemail Mode (TM). It roll out back in the days voicemail feature like this,

Automatic Voicemail Deletion: messages will be deleted automatically after 14 days
- Numeric keypad access: access to voicemail will only be available via your phone
- Beeper interoperability: your beeper will be paged every time a voicemail is left
- Message maximums: store a maximum of 10 messages at any given time
- Numeric page: people leaving you voicemails will be given the option to send a numeric page

5) Google introduces translation for animal to bridge the gap between animals and humans. This mobile application could be downloaded in Android Market. It would recognize and transcribe words from common species like cat, dog, horse and other animals.

6) YouTube has already supported 1080p and HD mode, and today YouTube is rolling out a new way to experience YouTube, text-only mode (TEXTp). You can select the video mode at the setting bar to change a video to this mode. YouTube claims that you will save them $1 per second if you watch video in this mode. It requires latest Flash Player (10.0) to play. Check out the video here with TEXTp mode.



7) If you have used Google Picasa, you would aware that it lets you order you picture in printing. Today, Google Picasa introduces LifeSize(TM) to let you order your print your picture in real size. Google use shape detection technology to find your real-life approximate heights based on the background, surrounding object and ratio of the subject's foot-to-navel length and the navel-to-head length. 8) Google Mobile introduce new search feature. Google announce that for those of you who turn to Google in search of, “where am I,” we finally have a better result. Starting today, just go to Google.com on your phone in the US, search for “where am I”, and wonder about your own whereabouts no more. Remember, you have to search 'where am I' from your cell phone, not regular PC. Try it.

9) Google Physicist discover extra dimension in street view. This extra dimension can be only seen by using the cutting-edge red-cyan glasses like shown below. Thanks to modern technology and remarkable advances in manufacturing, such state-of-the-art equipment is now available online for under a dollar. If you wear these glasses, you can go to Google Maps, and enter your favorite spot in Street View. Pegman will serve as your guide to the secret dimension - start by clicking this icon shown on the left of the screen. Enjoy the new 3D street view!

10) Google release an extension to unmute the web with Google Chrome. With this extension, Chrome provide audio feedback as you browse to web pages and interact with the browser. To experience the web with auditory feedback, download Google Chrome (if you haven’t already), install the extension, turn up the volume, and enjoy the biggest increase in your browsing productivity since the blink tag. Mundane operations like opening and closing tabs, searching, navigating, even debugging the browser and much more will never be the same. Try it, it is really fun!
