Optical Character Recognition (OCR) in Google Docs


Google announces the new feature in Google Docs; Using optical character recognition technology (OCR) to Convert the text in image files and PDF into Google Docs document. It has a new option 'Convert text from PDF or image files (JPEG, GIF, PNG) to Google Docs documents' in the same window when you are uploading file. The second method is go to your documents list in Google Docs, right click on the documents (PDF or image files, and select 'Convert'.

As for today, the supported language include English, French, Italian, German and Spanish. Go try it out!

Notes: It seems like you would not able to convert the BMP image file.
