Finally Google has integrated Google Voice, Gmail and Google Chat. Google announces today that Gmail user can call phone from Google Chat in Gmail. Previously, user can do voice and video chat but both parties have to be in front of the computer. And if the user has a Google Voice number, the user could set it up to forward calls to an VOIP number (eg. Gizmo) and has the VOIP provider forward to Google Talk (Google Chat in Gmail). But all these routings add noise and delay.
This new integration between Google Voice, Gmail and Google chat skip the third party VOIP part (Google bought over Gizmo should contribute to this!). In addition, it allows user to make and receive call using their Google Voice number from Gmail. How cool is that?!
Google is rolling this feature in the next few days to all Gmail user (however not yet for Google App user). And if you need to receive call in Gmail with your Google Voice number, you need to at least make call from Gmail at least once and then setup in Google Voice setting. More information click here.
