As I was browsing through movie for my friday night relaxation, I was having a little hard time choosing a movie that fit my taste. Not wanting for any action packed, special effect or comedies typed of movie, I was looking for something that I could enjoy, learn and feel better after. I came across IMDB top 250 and here it is the movie 'The Shawshank Redemption' with the highest rating of 9.2 with around half a million votes. Coincidently I heard of this movie from some of my friend that this is a very popular movie. From the movie synopsis, it was about two guys in the prison. I was reluctant at first as I thought it might be some sort of prison break movie, but it seems like a movie about friendship. Since it has one of my favorite actor Morgan Freeman and it seems like the bucket list type of movie, I gave it a shot. And I glad I did cause this is truly a wonderful movie.
The movie is about Andy Dufresne, a young and successful banker whose life changes drastically when he is convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife and her lover. Set in the 1940's, the film shows how Andy, with the help of his friend Red, the prison entrepreneur, turns out to be a most unconventional prisoner.
There are thousand of comments about the movie on IMDB and whatever need to be said have pretty much have said before. The movie is about friendship, hardship, respect, hope and dream. I even came across one of the user reviews saying that an older lady told him that she always rent this movie whenever she feels down and depressed. Cause after she watched the movie, it make her feel better. I agree with her. I would highly recommend this movie for anyone to spend about 2 hours to watch this movie.
