Movie Of The Week - My Name Is Khan

This movie came to my awareness when it first listed in the Flixster DVD list. This movie received a very high rating and reviews. I didn't look into its detail any further as it somehow appeared to be a foreign movie to me. Not that I don't watch foreign movie but I was looking for something else at that moment.

When I was on a flight recently, this movie was listed in their current listing. I take a few minutes to watch the preview and immediately I know I got to watch this movie. The movie is about Rizwan Khan, a Muslim from the Borivali section of Mumbai, suffers from Asperger's syndrome, a form of high-functioning autism that complicates socialization. The adult Rizwan marries a Hindu single mother, Mandira, in San Francisco. After 9/11, Rizwan is detained by authorities at LAX who mistake his disability for suspicious behavior. Following his arrest, he meets Radha, a therapist who helps him deal with his situation and his affliction. Rizwan then begins a journey to meet US President.

I had to say I really like the movie, that I watched it more than a few times during my flight. I strongly recommend this movie to anyone. It is funny, could be very emotional, and full of inspiration. If you are looking for a movie tonight, give this movie a chance and you won't regret it.

Here is a preview of the movie for your reference.
